The ”I run for Integrity” is envisioned to be a historical running event and a bold move by the private sector as a CALL FOR THE WHOLE NATION to join the RUN towards a New Philippines – A country that will be known for its Integrity.

The event is inviting representatives from all sectors of the society to join – private sector, government, judiciary, academe/youth, civil society, church, media and all Individuals who care enough to effect a culture change in winning the fight against corruption in the Philippines.

Run with the Masters on April 17, 2011

Run with the Masters 2011, will be held on APRIL 17, 2011 at the QUIRINO GRANDSTAND, LUNETA PARK. With the theme of “PAGKILALA SA PATULOY NA PAGBIBIGAY KARANGALAN SA BANSA NG MGA ATLETANG PILIPINO”, this event will be a fund-raising campaign to be able to send a Philippine Team Delegation to the upcoming World Masters Athletics Championships (WMAC) to be held in Sacramento, California on 6-17 July 2011.

Yakult 10-Miler - Race Kit

My next run will be on March 27th at the Yakult 10 Miler. This event has been here since the early 1980's and I appreciate the low registration fee, this is one of the main reason why I opted to join Yakult and not the other events which cost a thousand bucks.

We were lucky that Mizuno Bonifacio High Street still has slots for the 10 miler event (16K), yesterday my running buddies went to Mizuno Megamall but no 16K slots are available.

How to Help Japan 8.9 Earthquake Victims

Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded on Friday. The magnitude-8.9 quake spawned a deadly tsunami that slammed into the nation's east coast, leaving a huge swath of devastation in its wake. Hundreds of people are dead and many more are still missing or injured.

Japan has often donated when other countries have experienced disasters, such as when Hurricane Katrina impacted the United States. Below are organizations that are working on relief and recovery in the region.

AMERICAN RED CROSS: Emergency Operation Centers are opened in the affected areas and staffed by the chapters. This disaster is on a scale larger than the Japanese Red Cross can typically manage. Donations to the American Red Cross can be allocated for the International Disaster Relief Fund, which then deploys to the region to help. Donate here.

GLOBALGIVING: Established a fund to disburse donations to organizations providing relief and emergency services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami. Donate here.

SAVE THE CHILDREN: Mobilizing to provide immediate humanitarian relief in the shape of emergency health care and provision of non-food items and shelter. Donate here.

SALVATION ARMY: The Salvation Army has been in Japan since 1895 and is currently providing emergency assistance to those in need. Donate here.

AMERICARES: Emergency team is on full alert, mobilizing resources and dispatching an emergency response manager to the region. Donate here.

CONVOY OF HOPE: Disaster Response team established connection with in-country partners who have been impacted by the damage and are identifying the needs and areas where Convoy of Hope may be of the greatest assistance. Donate here.

The Eagle starring Channing Tatum & Jamie Bell

Last Thursday, March 10, 2011, we watched the movie entitled The Eagle starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell. Actually, we can choose any movie because the movie pass given to me by my friend Joseph is for any movie at any SM cinema. But then, The eagle captured my interest and it seems to be better than the other movies being shown at SM Centerpoint during the week.

STORYLINE

Greentennial Half Marathon on May 22, 2011

Another affordable and recommended running event is the Greentennial Half Marathon which will be on May 22, 2011 at MOA. No registration fee increase and everyone is hoping for the same great event as their first organized run last January 2011.

The Hyundai Free Fun Run on April 2, 2011

Fellow runners, this should be the standard in running events for a cause. The organizers should at least shoulder most of the expenses and the runner's share should mostly go to the beneficiary and not the other way around.


I would like to applaud Hyundai for initiating this event. Mabuhay po kayo!

P.S. As of today, March 11, 2011, registration is closed for both 5K and 10K due to overwhelming registrations. :-)

UPDATE! The registration was re-opened last March 24th but after few days it was finally closed because the additional slots were all taken up. The estimated runners would be around 20,000 plus.  Whew! Thanks Hyundai!

2011 RunRio Trilogy Leg 1: Unilab Run United 1 - Race Pics

Barely a month after my first 21K run during the Condura Skyway Marathon 2011, and even though my runner's toe injuries are not yet fully healed, I am again back on the road today, running my second 21K at the Run United 1 of the Runrio Trilogy 2011 at the Bonifacio Global City.

I beat my previous time of 2:18, my new PR now for 21K is 2:10, but still I have troubles with runner's toe injuries, but not as bad as my first 21K run.
